Husband’s lifts would appear to know no borders, for if you would like a worldwide culinary experience just follow one of our installation engineers around and you will find your fill of foods from around the globe! Recent lift installations have ranged from the local British pub serving traditional roast beef to the far east menus of Busaba Thai, and Maggie Lo’s new restaurant in Chalk Farm, London. In between new lifts for food from the Americas, Frankie and Benny’s American Diners and a new opening for The Smokehaus in Birmingham represent the north whilst Viva Brazil serving South American steaks is another Birmingham opening. Closer to home lifts installed at Tapeo a new tapas and Spanish restaurant in Deansgate, Manchester and for Bella Italia and Pasta di Piazza represent the Europeans, whilst from our own shores we have lobster for The Peninsular Lobster another exciting Midlands opening due soon.
Our customers lift requirements are almost as varied as the menus, Dumbwaiter lifts speed food from the kitchen to diners, whilst double decker and goods lifts not only move food, cutlery and crockery but those heavier bar requirements. Customer comfort and requirements have also been catered for and recent installations include platform lifts for wheelchair and mobility access.
Our best wishes and good luck to all our customers with new or imminent openings. Cheers!

Busaba Eathai have chosen the North West to open their first restaurants outside London. The casual dining chain opened in January in Manchester’s Printworks and more recently in Liverpool ONE a growing destination for dining experiences in Liverpool’s Hanover Street. Husbands were delighted to be asked to supply dumbwaiter lifts to both restaurants following previous work on Busaba sites in London. Working with Gariff Construction the Manchester based design and fit-out company Husbands supplied 3 lifts for the Busaba Printworks restaurant and on behalf of RTS Contracts a single dumbwaiter lift to the Liverpool ONE site. For the North West openings Busaba have moved away from the communal canteen-style dining of sites in the Capital to a more conventional seating style adding more sharing dishes to the menu and a ‘more modern Bangkok style of Thai.’

Interserve UK the specialist facilities construction and management company recently asked Husbands to provide 2 dumbwaiter service lifts to carry blood for the new SNBTS centre being constructed at Currie near Edinburgh. Husbands manufactured and installed the 2 lifts using techniques and technology developed for lifts previously supplied to NHS England and London fertility clinics. The lift cars were manufactured using marine grade 316 stainless steel, special coving and beaded finishes to the car interiors meant corners were eliminated to allow hygenic cleaning, whilst special silicone membranes covering the control buttons also provided a smooth wipe clean surface. Rubber seals on the landing doors were similarly an aid to preventing dirt ingress and the lifts were interfaced with the buildings fire alarm system.

Restauranter Alan Yau has recently opened 3 new London restaurants, all 3 moving in a different direction and all 3 featuring Husbands Dumbwaiters.
The 'Duck and Rice' could be termed a chinese gastropub! Enhancing Soho's old Endurance pub, the glass and brass interior with copper coloured beer vats make an exciting venue for the superb chinese menu and a preserved pub atmosphere for the variety of cask and world beers! There is even a beer cocktail list!
'Babaji' adds another nationality to the Aaya groups list. The restaurant in Shaftesbury Avenue has a Turkish menu and takes 'Pide' a turkish flatbread/pizza topped with minced lamb as its theme.
'Park Chinois' meantime brings glamour back to Mayfair. The lavish interior creates a throwback to the nightclubs of 1950's Shanghai and a club atmosphere is enhanced each evening with either piano and singer or a 7 piece band and vocalists.
Husbands were delighted to be asked by Linda Yau to supply 3 of their 2050 model Dumbwaiter Lifts to each restaurant, 2 of the lifts at each site are fitted with heated interior shelving and include a specially designed intercom systems for communication between kichens and service areas.

Dumb-waiters by L.A. Husbands with Motovario worm gear motor
The movement and start/stop speeds of dumb-waiters by L.A. Husbands Ltd, a company synonymous with efficient English manufacturing, are controlled by Motovario drives. The agreement between the two companies is born out of a long history of mutual trust that has led to very positive results in terms of reliability and efficiency. Husbands purchases drives from Motovario each year via the Motovario Ltd branch, which also supports customers with its after-sales service.
Every Husbands dumb-waiter is installed with a NMRV-POWER 063 worm gear motor, equipped with a self-braking TBS 71C4 0, motor, the most efficient and economic response to the need for continual stopping and starting.
Husbands constantly strives for efficient performance and the Motovario worm gear motor ensures a timely response to carriage movements and changes in speed. The Husbands company uses a unique modular structure for its lifts that allows for the lift to be fully constructed and tested before it is delivered to the customer, thus reducing the possibility of on-site problems. This process means that installation causes the customer only minimal disturbance. For example, a dumb-waiter characterised by 2-3 stops can often be installed in 3-4 hours.
Collaboration with Motovario completes this efficient process.
